Susanoo's contest sword from the Kojiki

Created for a mythology-based project inspired by the Susanoo myth from the Kojiki, this sword was designed around an object whose appearance is not described in the original story. To establish a foundation for the design, I researched early Japanese swords from the Age of the Kojiki and incorporated their characteristics into the model, along with visual inspiration from the Sword of the Gathering Clouds of Heaven.

The modeling process focused on developing the sword from its basic shape into a complete asset, refining its proportions, details, and materials throughout each stage. The final model was created and presented in Unreal Engine.

These images showcase the sword's development in reverse, beginning with the completed asset and moving back through the refinement and early modeling stages that shaped its final design.
